I have created a new section on my website and I cannot get the navigation to take on the same “look” as the others. I did this other day and I guess I forgot, what am i doing wrong??
Good morning, and thank you for reaching out to the community. What the issue sounds like to me is that the “CSS” isn’t being loaded/referenced for the navigation correctly.
I’m not sure if you personally handle the HTML/CSS development of the site, but my first suggestion would be to verify that all the CSS referenced in the “other pages” was also correctly referenced in your new page. A fast way to check that is to compare a working page to your non styled page, and inspect both pages navigation elements. If I could put money on it I would bet that either there is a region’s id/class that are not labeled correctly, or there is a mis-referenced/lack of CSS for the page navigation in question.
If this all goes above your head, have no worries, feel free to have a member of your IT/Development team read my response or provide me the links to both pages, and I can take a look at it myself.
Thank you again for being a customer of Percussion, and we look forward to seeing the finished product
Thank you for your response. I have looked I over deleted the navigation and tried to replace and rename. Maybe I did too much of that and looked at it too long.
Here a styled page:
Here is the page that I created:
I took a look… It looks like you did everything right, but were missing a class… Take a look here, this is what it looks like currently:
Here is what it looks like when I added “navbar” to this one element.
So what you need to do is go into the template and add the class “navbar” to the navigation widget, and this should fix the issue. Let us know if we can help with anything else.
Please go look. I did this and is still not correct. I have been working on this since Monday and Navigation is not my friend.
Can you send me a screen shot of the navigation field you added “navbar” to? I am looking at your page navigation on the ‘page in question’, and I could not see where it was added.
I also was talking with one of the senior support specialists here, and Percussion CMS should add this class to your navigation by default, and not require to manipulate the CSS. Out of curiosity what were the steps you followed when you created the side navigation?
I went to the navigation section of the site and added the section on the 1st level. I opened a template that was not being used, but already had our “look” someone else created it.
I am thinking I missed a step, you have me paranoid now.
No need to panic this should be a simple fix and I can walk you through the process.
From the screen shot you provided it looks like the “navbar” class is not being applied to the Navigation widget your having issues with and that’s why your not seeing the “look” your desiring. What Chris is trying to explain is in CM1 if you open up the template for editing, you can add the class of “navbar” to the navigation widget.
To do this,
1st - open this page for editing
2nd- on the top left and under “Actions” select “Edit Template”
3rd - click on the “Style Tab”
4th - double click on the Navigation Widget on the left of your template (or you can click on it once and then click on the wrench icon that appears in the top right corner of the widget.)
5th - type in the class “navbar”, in the input field then click ok.
6 - click the blue SAVE button.
7 - LAST publish the page.
This will add the class of “navbar” to your Navigation Widget and should apply all the CSS styling associated to that side navigation.
Please let me know if this works or if you have any questions.
OMGOSH!!!YOU ARE WONDERFUL!!! THANK YA’LL SOO MUCH!!! I have sat here since Monday trying to figure this out.
Great work, team!
Glad that worked!! told you there was no reason to panic!
