Exporting Templates from CM1 2.8 to 2.7

Hello,

Are there any problems with exporting templates created in 2.8 to a 2.7 system?

Tina,

I can’t think of any reason this would cause any problems, as no new widgets or design functionality was introduced in 2.8. The only possible issue I can envision would arise if you are integrating jQuery into any of your templates, because 2.8 had its internal jQuery library updated from 1.5 to 1.7.2. You would just have to ensure that any Javascript you are using in your 2.8 templates is fully compatible with jQuery 1.5.

Otherwise, I have just tested sending various template files back and forth between my personal 2.8 and 2.7 instances and I encountered no problems. As long as you remember to move your site’s themes folder over to your production instance when you export your templates (and link the templates up to your theme using the Style tab), you should be fine.
